Splunk is a widely-used platform for data management. It is a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tool leveraged by industry professionals throughout various sectors and businesses, from grocery stores to defense contractors. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of how Splunk captures, indexes, and correlates data into user-friendly consoles along with common use cases, such as how to create your own dashboard. This is intended for users with little to no knowledge of Splunk or how this data analytics tool works.
Students can obtain a free Splunk instance and download onto your machine (www.splunk.com). If you would like to follow along during this session (optional), then you can create your free account with Splunk. This may take 24 hours to verify. You can still attend the workshop if you do not do this step.
