Impact Workshop: Is Tech Ableist?
Friday, October 9, 2020 · 12 - 1 PM
When we think about underrepresentation in technology fields, we often focus on gender or racial disparities. Yet, people with disabilities are often not thought about, even though they comprise the largest minority group, with one out of five Americans having a disability. Do people with disabilities have equitable access to train to become technology professionals? Do nondisabled people have adequate training to create technologies that do not exclude people with disabilities? In this conversational workshop, we will collectively explore these questions and consider what we--as women and non-binary people in technology--can and should to do address ableism in our field.
