CWIT Listening Circle: Overcoming Challenges
Get to Know Others in the CWIT Community!
Monday, November 15, 2021 · 12 - 12:50 PM
CWIT Listening Circles are a new initiative for the 2021-2022 school year. Lunch will be provided.
Our second circle will offer an opportunity to get to know other members of the CWIT community through storytelling. Each participant will be given a few minutes (exact time depends on number of participants) to respond to this prompt:
Tell us about a challenge you faced in your life and how you handled and/or overcame that challenge.
You will also have the opportunity to hear everyone else's stories and get to know them better!
For a bit of context about listening circles, according to the International Institute for Restorative Practices:
"With roots in indigenous cultures around the world, listening circles provide people an opportunity to speak and listen to each other in an atmosphere of safety, decorum and equality. Listening circles emphasize storytelling for cultivating empathy. To help people gain a shared sense of understanding and emotional connection, these circles can be used in communities, workplaces, schools, organizations, neighborhoods, universities and families."
