The Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society (DAPi) Gama Chapter has been established for the purpose of providing the UMBC disabled population with a community that creates leaders, encourages and celebrates academic achievements, extends professional opportunities, and supports navigation of academic experience with disability. DAPi Honor Society works to help students develop into leaders, holding workshops on leadership skills and having discussions about personal success. DAPi recognizes students in their path to academic excellence, inducting members with a 3.1 GPA or higher. To aid in reaching and maintaining that standard, DAPi holds academic skills sessions where topics like self-care, study techniques, and navigation of accommodations are discussed. DAPi also works to extend professional opportunities by hosting graduate school representatives and guest speakers from centers on campus, career center resume and internship workshops, as well as promoting scholarships. DAPi is a space where disabled students can also meet each other and have fun, developing lasting bonds with others that have unique perspectives, advice, and compassion.
