Critical Catch Up: The Education Policy Landscape
11:30 - 1:30 | Commons 329
What’s actually happening with education policy in America—and who has the power to shape what happens next?
Join us for a conversation designed to cut through the confusion surrounding rapidly changing education policies. Together, we’ll unpack recent headlines and ask:
-
What actually happened?
-
Who might be affected?
-
Who has the power to decide what happens next?
-
Where can students meaningfully get involved?
We’ll discuss questions around supporting international students through policy uncertainty, the responsibility of colleges and universities to communicate policy changes, where Maryland and local institutions can respond to federal action, and what we want the education system to look like for the next generation.
This event is part of Critical Social Justice (CSJ) Week, a campus-wide initiative focused on equity, inclusion, community care, justice, and belonging. This year’s theme, “The Personal Is Political,” invites us to consider how we can be part of both the problem and the solution in creating a more just society.
Come with questions. Leave with a clearer understanding of what’s happening, who decides, and where we can act.
