Creating Disability Accessibility in Ethnographic Research through Collaboration
In this talk, Erin L. Durban will explore experimental efforts in anti-ableist ethnographic research. They will highlight interconnected methodological considerations for this project, such as mixed-ability collaboration, mixing “local” and “remote” research, asynchronous participation, the use of a wide variety of affordable access technology, and more.

Erin L. Durban is Associate Professor of Anthropology at University of Minnesota. They serve on the Leadership Team of Critical Disability Studies and was co-Chair from 2021-2023. Durban earned a PhD in Feminist Studies from University of Arizona and is an active affiliate of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies and American Studies. On campus, they lead the Queer and Trans* Ecologies Interdisciplinary Initiative. They additionally co-Chair the Association for Queer Anthropology.
