J. Blake Clark (616/UMBC) and Dr. Antonio Mannino (616/GSFC) conducted research related to the Yukon River watershed "to understand the balance between freshwater input and external forces such as wind and tides on the structure of the freshwater Yukon River plume and the transport of water in the coastal ocean."
Given the model data required for this study, they utilized the NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) Discover supercomputer. Learn more about their research discoveries and processes in this NCCS highlight. Also, Drs. Clark and Mannino published their results in this 2022 paper in Frontiers in Marine Science.
