We are delighted to announce a significant milestone in our journey towards international educational collaboration as we welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Kanagawa Association of Private Jr./Sr. High Schools to our campus.
It was an honor to host Mr. Seiichi Kudo, Mr. Yohei Kuroda, Ms. Miki Sasaki, and their students over two weeks in August as part of a special English and Culture Immersion Program facilitated by UMBC’s English Language Institute (ELI).
The highlight of this visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UMBC and the Kanagawa Association of Private Jr./Sr. High Schools on August 13th.. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in our partnership, as we prepare to implement the Global Achievement Scholarship program for up to 10 students from Kanagawa each year to pursue their Bachelor’s degrees at UMBC. The ceremony featured remarks from Adam Holden , Director of Global Partnerships, as well as insights from UMBC’s leadership, including Dr. Manfred van Dulmen , Provost & Senior Vice President, and Dr. David Di Maria, Ed.D . , Associate Vice Provost for International Education.
A heartfelt thank you to our guests from Kanagawa and everyone who contributed to making this event a success. We believe that partnerships like these pave the way for enriched educational experiences, bridging cultures and providing students and educators with global opportunities.
