From Research Scientist to NIH Administrator to Medical Science Liaison: How I Found Success on the Other Side of the Lab Bench (and How You Can Too!)
Letitia (Tisha) Weigand, PhD is a Medical Science Liaison with UCB based in Bethesda, MD. Tisha’s career in science so far has hit the trifecta of academia, the federal government, and now the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining UCB, Tisha was a Program Director at the National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke/NIH where she established and administered programs that support neuroscience training for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows at institutions across the U.S. She spent more than a decade at the lab bench conducting research at the intersection of neuroscience, physiology, and immunology. Tisha holds a PhD from John Hopkins University and completed postdoctoral training in neuroscience at George Washington University.
Tisha is passionate about preparing and equipping the next generation of scientists and professionals for success. Throughout her career she has served as a speaker and mentor in the biomedical and neuroscience community. This has included speaking and mentoring engagements focused on professional development and STEM careers with universities and professional societies including the American Epilepsy Society, the American Physiological Society, the University of Pennsylvania, and University of California, Irvine. Tisha spends much of her free time sharing outdoor adventures with her husband Christian and their three kids.
