How students learn (and why I teach the way I do)

Join us on Friday 3/12 @ Noon to hear a presentation from Dr. V about how students learn!

There is a disconnect between how students learn and how students *think* they learn. This creates an interesting dilemma for faculty, where the methods that research shows are more effective often create student resistance. I'll present some of the research behind student learning, placing it in the context of educational theories. Basically, I'm going to tell you how to learn things better and faster. I'll also point out why research-backed teaching methods can create more equitable learning experiences. Come with questions about anything related to teaching, learning, how to college, why physical chemistry is the best subject, why I love open source software, or what chemicals are in your food, and I'll happily answer any of them as well.
