In this participatory workshop, Senior Lecturer in Dance Jill Vasbinder Morrison, and Dancer & Community Organizer Allie Gardner will guide participants through the process of building community relationships through embodied practice and understanding connections of value and power. With guest artist Ximena Monroy Rocha in Oaxaca, Mexico, Allie will share their experiences creating the El Movimiento project and film through community workshops and collaboration. With the HT Lab attendees, Jill, Allie and Ximena will explore ideas for international, virtual, in-person and hybrid modes of community engagement in and out of the classroom.
Participants will learn to:
Build relationships with & identify potential community partners
Embody non-hierarchical structures in community workshop
Identify real-world applications for community partnership & collaboration.
