Saturday, September 14, 2024 · 10 AM - 4:30 PM
The UMBC Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation program (LSAMP), Meyerhoff Scholars program, and Graduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (G-RISE) program are hosting an NSF GRFP Bootcamp on Saturday, September 14th from 10:00am - 4:00pm at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in the Public Policy Lecture Hall.
Sign-up to register to attend the NSF GRFP Bootcamp. Filling out the form does not guarantee participation. Participants will be approved on a first-come first-served basis based on space. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Complete the form by 09/11/24 for best consideration.
In the Bootcamp, you can expect sessions on fellowship information, how the application process works, and sharing of best practices on submitting a competitive application. Winners of this fellowship get more than $159,000 total (3 years of funding) towards their graduate education. Competition is steep, but UMBC has a proud history of several undergraduate and graduate students winning this prestigious fellowship, and we are committed to helping more students achieve this success! Sessions will be facilitated by Dr. Michael T. Westrate.
Through similar Boot Camps each of the last six years, Dr. Westrate and his team have assisted over 500 student applicants to major national awards. Of those applicants, more than 100 won the prestigious NSF GRFP award or received Honorable Mention, and over 200 others won similar awards (e.g. Fulbright). The program will consist of interactive workshop sessions, and will cover everything from finding fellowship opportunities to leveraging fellowship wins with graduate school admissions.
