Linux User's Group Mirror Server Updates
Hey Retrievers!
The Linux User's Group system administration team has been busy over the summer. We have made substantial improvements and upgrades to our mirror server infrastructure to better server the campus and Linux community.
First, we had downtime in July where we worked to expand our servers storage array. We added an additional 36TB (~24TB usable after RAID). With this additional storage space, we are able to better support existing and new distributions.
On that note, we have expanded the distributions we are mirroring to now include Alpine, Artix, CachyOS, and Termux. More to come soon!
Next, we updated our main server from PVE 8 -> PVE 9 prior to PVE 8's end of life on August 31st, 2026. This will ensure we continue to get support and critical updates to our infrastructure.
Lastly, we are starting to be recognized as official mirrors for majority of the distrbutions we mirror. As of now, we are an official mirror for...
- Arch Linux
- Artix Linux
- CachyOS
- Debian
- EasyOS
- EndeavourOS (soon, waiting for maintainers to update mirror list)
- Fatdog
- Linux Mint
- Puppy Linux
- and Ubuntu
