inHALE
Wednesday, April 17, 2024 · 7:30 - 9:30 PM
Flutists Lisa Cella and Carrie Rose of the inHALE collective present a program of music for a variety of flutes by Alexandre Lunsqui, Caterina Calderoni, Mark Menzies, Carrie Rose, Allison Loggins-Hull, and Nathalie Joachim.
inHALE is a collective of flutists with a mission to seek out exciting and adventurous duo repertoire that utilizes each member of the flute family (piccolo, flute, alto flute, bass flute). Through direct contact with composers, inHALE searches for music that elevates the duo from its pedagogic status to the concert stage. With active commissioning, inHALE will augment the repertoire for the entire flute family.
Each member of the collective is a strong exponent of the contemporary flute and have, between them, premiered over 250 new works while building a new generation of repertoire. inHALE had its debut to the flute world at the National Flute Convention (2005) in San Diego to an audience from around the world. Since then, they have performed at the Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair, the University of Virginia’s TECHNOSONICS Festival; University of Akron; multiple times on the Origins Concert Series in Silver Spring, Maryland; International Alliance for Women in Music Conference at the University of California, Fullerton; UMBC; An Die Musik in Baltimore, Maryland; California Institute of the Arts; Athenaeum Library, La Jolla, San Diego; Conservatorio Piacenza, Piacenza, Italy; and the University of California, San Diego.
