Livewire 16 — newRUCKUS and the Zohn Collective: Coming Together
The second evening of the Livewire 16 new music festival features the newRUCKUS ensemble and the Zohn Collective in Coming Together, an evening of works by Raven Chacon, Steve Reich, and Frederic Rzewski:

newRUCKUS is UMBC’s contemporary music ensemble in residence. With a mission to champion new and groundbreaking works, newRUCKUS is dedicated to supporting innovative artists and early-career composers through commissions and collaboration. newRUCKUS engages with students working toward UMBC’s Certificate in American Contemporary Music, often performing alongside these students and mentoring their creative work. Each year, the ensemble co-hosts the Livewire Festival, bringing guest artists and other ensembles from around the world to Baltimore for a weekend of cutting-edge contemporary music.
Zohn Collective is dedicated to the performance of contemporary art music. The ensemble is comprised of regular nine members, which include performers, composers, and a Zohn Collective has released CD recordings with New Focus Records, Oberlin Music, and Albany Records. The group has attracted support from the NEA, the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, New Music USA, the Ditson Fund, and the Paul Judy Center for Innovation and Research, among others. Zohn Collective was featured at the Festival Cultural de Mayo, in Guadalajara, Mexico and the Tag der Neune Musik Festival in Dusseldorf, Germany. Other recent events include performances and projects held at the Cleveland Museum of Art, International House at the University of Chicago University of Kentucky (Lexington), Belmont University, Oberlin Conservatory, Northern Kentucky University, Notre Dame University, and Vanderbilt University.
