With the recent change to notifications (and the upcoming deluge of events for the Fall semester), we've added an open on new events and posts to not send notifications...
Next to the Post button is a Silent checkbox. Simply check this and no notifications will be sent, regardless of user preferences.
This cannot be changed after you've posted.
