NDAG's Virtual Body Doubling Work Session
Friday, January 16, 2026 · 1 - 2 PM
Are you feeling overwhelmed with prioritizing work tasks? Is it difficult making time to begin a new project? Do you seek motivation to complete an important task before the start of Spring semester derails your flow?
Join NDAG members for a virtual body doubling (VBD) work session. VBD is a productivity technique where colleagues work alongside each other on a video call. The presence of silently working peers helps improve focus and accountability.
Here's what to expect...
Before the meeting: identify one or a few work tasks that you wish to make progress on during the work session.
When the meeting begins: join our WebEx room and briefly share (audibly or in chat) your goal of what you plan to accomplish during the hour.
During the meeting: silently work on your goal. Microphones are turned off and participants can choose whether to keep their video on or off. A NDAG host volunteers to keep their camera on the entire session (to give that feeling of collegial presence).
In the last 5 mins: check-in with the group to share what you accomplished and your next-steps.
NDAG tentatively plans to host this Worked-Out Accountability Club once a month. If members would like increased frequency of these meetings, they may volunteer to be the 'host on camera' for additional sessions at dates/times of their choosing. NDAG leadership can aid in scheduling more events through myUMBC.
