Mission of the Nigerian Graduate Student Association
The Nigerian Graduate Student Association (NGSA) is an association committed to the intellectual success of all Nigerian graduate students at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. It is devoted to providing professional and social interactions and support among Nigerian graduate students. The NGSA will collaborate with the Graduate Student Association and the African Student Association to effectively pursue and achieve its goals of providing opportunities and support as well as fostering a sense of community for Nigerian Graduate Students through events, collaborative projects within and outside the association.
Goals
The NGSA committee seeks to accomplish its mission through:
Collaborating with the GSA and ASA on social events that foster academic and social events in which Nigerian graduate students feel represented and recognized
Provide opportunity to interact with each other as well as build a strong support system for each other and share job opportunities and resources with each other
Getting appropriate faculty and staff involved in the achievement of the mission of NGSA
Ensuring that NGSA provides a space available to first-year graduate students moving to the US from Nigeria and assist in making their transition a comfortable and enjoyable one. This would involve officials of the NGSA and its members attending orientations to speak to and welcome new Nigerian graduate students
