The UMBC Observatory houses a research-grade telescope and lives right on top of the Physics building! The Observatory Group works to observe the heavens and tell everyone about it! Feel free to join us!
For all students, faculty, and staff at UMBC as well as all members of the public*, we offer Open Houses. These are free events where we talk about some topic in astronomy and also tour the observatory! If it's clear out, we even try to look through some of our other telescopes to see what's up!
Stay in touch by checking out this page or the observatory.umbc.edu webpage for even more information.
*Especially those members of the public that want to know more about space! All ages are welcome.
All events, groups, organizations, and centers are open for full participation by all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or any other protected category under applicable federal law, state law, and the University's nondiscrimination policy.
