Commuter Thrive Guide: Benefits Navigation
Week 4 of UMBC Commuter Thrive Guide! This week we are highlithing a resource called "Benefits Navigation." Learn more about Benefits Navigation below! ⬇️
What is it?
Benefits Navigation helps UMBC students find and access resources and programs they may qualify for. Through Single Stop, students can complete a free benefits screening to see if they may qualify for programs such as SNAP, health insurance, tax assistance, housing assistance, and other community supports.
Who is it for?
It is for UMBC students who may need help finding or accessing benefits and other resources that can make college and everyday life more manageable.
Why would students use it? / How can it help them thrive?
Students can use Benefits Navigation to learn what resources may be available to them. Connecting with benefits and other community supports can help make college more accessible and less stressful, allowing students to focus on their education and succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
When and where is it available?
Students can complete a confidential Single Stop benefits screening online via https://app.singlestop.org/cashmd/main at any time to see what resources may be available.
How do students access it?
Students who would like assistance completing the screening can meet with Rachel Hundertmark, the Benefits Navigator Fellow at UMBC, through the CASH Campaign of Maryland. To schedule an appointment, email rhundertmark@cashmd.org or text/call 443-219-7392.
