Research Experience for Undergraduates Summer 2020: Patterns and PDEs
Location: Leiden University, Leiden, The Netherlands
Dates: June 15 - July 24, 2020Faculty mentors: Paul Carter (University of Minnesota), Arjen Doelman (Leiden University)
Application deadline: Friday, February 14, 2020
This REU is scheduled for the six week period June 15 - July 24, 2020 to take place at Leiden University. Research projects will focus on the study of nonlinear waves and pattern formation, using the theory of dynamical systems and partial differential equations, and including applications to vegetation pattern formation or other topics in mathematical biology/ecology.
We expect to fund two students for this program. To participate, students must be US citizens or permanent residents, and must have not yet completed their undergraduate degree by summer 2020. Selected students will receive a stipend of $3,600 plus up to $2,400 towards round trip airfare as well as accommodation. We encourage applications from women and groups traditionally underrepresented in mathematics.
Applications should be submitted via MathPrograms.org: https://www.mathprograms.org/db/programs/908
