Reported Incident: Stalking

Location: Potomac Hall

Reported Date/Time: August 29, 2024, 3:30 p.m.

Occurred Date/Time: August 28, 2024, 11:15 p.m.

Incident Description:  A student reported being stalked and harassed by two unknown male students in a Potomac Hall stairwell. The victim was yelled at and followed after refusing to provide personal information. The victim was chased to the victim’s room, and the perpetrators repeatedly banged on the door trying to get inside.

Victims are not to blame. Perpetrators are responsible for criminal behavior. The following safety tips may reduce vulnerability:

• Stay alert and attuned to people and circumstances around you. Report suspicious activity to UMBC Police immediately.
• Document stalking behaviors, even if you are unsure about reporting to the police.
• Inform trusted friends and family that you are being stalked and tell them not to give any information about you to anyone.
• Trust your instincts.
