· Are planning to apply to Medical, Dental, Optometry, Podiatry, or Veterinary School (or are thinking about doing so)
· Are currently enrolled in CHEM 351 or CHEM 352 or BIOL 302 or BIOL 303 or are planning on enrolling in these courses in Spring 2022
· Have completed all of these courses, but are not planning to enter professional school until Fall 2023 or later...
…you should attend a Second-Year Pre-Health Group Advising meeting!
This group advising session is for students who are taking any of the second year professional school prerequisite courses (such as BIOL 302, BIOL 303, CHEM 351, or CHEM 352) regardless of year status at UMBC (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior). In this session we will review the elements of holistic preparation for health professional school for medicine, dentistry, podiatry, optometry, and veterinary medicine. Topics include prerequisite courses for professional school, volunteer service, clinical experience, research, and leadership. The format of the session will be a presentation followed by Q&A as time allows.
Between now and the meeting, students should familiarize themselves with the information on the office’s website. All second-year students interested in attending medical, dental, optometry, or veterinary school after they graduate from UMBC are encouraged to attend.
Registration is required and may be accessed here.
