Welcome or welcome back to campus! This week our office is shining a spotlight on pre-health student organizations on campus. Joining an organization is a great way to connect with others who share your career aspirations. If you're interested in one or more of these organizations, be sure to check them out during Involvement Fest on Wednesday, February 8th from noon-2pm in the Retriever Activities Center (RAC) (details here) or visit their myUMBC Groups page.
Pre-Medical Society
The Pre-Medical Society was formed to increase student awareness of medicine and other health-related fields and to develop the skills necessary to prepare for medical school, all in a community of like-minded undergraduates at UMBC. We aim to help our members develop an understanding of and deep concern for health care by providing education and guidance throughout the admissions process, broadening member knowledge of the various fields, degrees, and subspecialties in medicine, and providing various activities that strengthen the core interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies necessary to become a successful medical professional.
Our weekly meeting takes place every Friday from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm. Our activities include hosting presentations from different medical school directors of admissions, current medical students who previously attended UMBC, and undergraduate research programs. We hope that through society membership, our members are empowered to move boldly and surely toward their career goals.
