The College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences is excited to announce that the application for the 2023-2024 Beckman Scholars Program cohort is now open!
Involvement in the Beckman Scholars Program would begin upon:
1) completion of the online application;
2) acceptance of conditions in the Consent Form;
3) meeting eligibility requirements;
4) completion of the Beckman Scholars Program agreement; and
5) enrollment as a full-time undergraduate student at UMBC for Fall 2023. Participation in the program will continue through August 2024.

It is important to understand that application to The Beckman Scholars Program requires:
Documented status as either a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident;
A declared major in the biological or chemical disciplines (e.g. Biological Sciences, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, or Chemistry);
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0;
Status as a second year or third year student for the 2023-2024 academic year;
Status as a full-time undergraduate student at UMBC for the 2023-2024 academic year;
Two letters of recommendation from science faculty members
A written essay of purpose describing (i) Your future career interests/goals and how they align with pursuing and MD/PhD degree; (b) Your desire to be a Beckman Scholar and how you feel the program would benefit you in your pursuit of being an MD/PhD; and (c) Any current/previous research experience you have and how that experience has motivated you to pursue an MD/PhD
