University of Maryland Department of Dermatology Gap Year Intern Program
During your gap year (at least 2 years preferred) between undergraduate and professional school, you will join the high functioning clinical team in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine as a gap year intern/medical assistant and crucial team member. During this year you will have opportunities to obtain mentorship and letters of support from physicians and also as a gap year clinical medical assistant will work alongside top physicians. Will have opportunity to work with multiple physicians including Dr. Shawn Kwatra, Joseph W. Burnett Endowed Professor and Chairman of Dermatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. As a gap year program intern/participant you will learn about general, surgical, and medical dermatology, obtained patient care skills applicable to any specialty, received mentorship, gain clinical experience that will maximize your chances of getting into medical school or other professional programs.
