The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) will hold its Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, from September 29 to October 2, 2024. Both ASTRO and the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology (ARRO) would like to extend an invitation to all undergraduate, graduate, and medical students interested in learning more about radiation oncology.
Their first event is explicitly geared towards current medical students. The ARRO Medical Student Workshop is designed to help medical school students navigate choosing and securing a residency position in radiation oncology. It will take place on Saturday, September 28, from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. Eastern time.
The second event will be the Aspiring Scientists and Physicians Program. This program aims to connect students from historically underrepresented backgrounds to peers, residents, and faculty while providing advice on the steps necessary to pursue a career in radiation oncology. It will take place on Sunday, September 29, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern time.
Both of these programs will be offered in person and on the ASTRO 2024 virtual platform. If students wish to attend one or both events in person, the registration fees will be waived for that day.
Students should register at https://www.astro.org/about-astro/diversity-and-inclusion/initiatives/aspiring-scientists-and-physicians-program/aspp-form
The registration deadline is Monday, September 16.
