RGPN McNair Let's Talk Grad School #1
Picking Your People: Choosing — and Working With — Your PhD
Why attend? Whether you're thinking about a master's, law school, medical school, an MBA, or a PhD, graduate and professional programs look for more than grades. They want applicants who can explain why their work matters, build relationships across different communities, and connect what they've learned to real-world goals. For first-gen students, a lot of this is part of the "hidden curriculum" nobody spells out. Let's Talk Grad School is a low-pressure way to hear directly from people who have been there, and to ask the questions you might not know who else to ask.
Picking Your People: Choosing — and Working With — Your PhD Advisor
How did other new grad students choose their advisors?
Why it matters for grad school: Whether you're headed to a master's, law, medical, or doctoral program, the advisors and mentors you choose shape your experience. Hear how to find the right people and build a strong working relationship with them.
