We are excited to shoutout Suliyat Adewuyi, a Best Friend of McNair, for her first co-authored publication! Suliyat is a Public Health major aiming to graduate in Dec 2024, and she is completing the Social Dimensions of Health certificate.
Suliyat has been engaged as a Best Friend since Fall 2023, when she traveled with McNair for the first time to a professional development conference in Wisconsin. Since then, Suliyat has supported our community continuously in leadership positions such as Torch Committee Member and Conference Ambassador for 2024.
We also want to give a shoutout to Dr. Sameera Nayak, first author of this feature publication, who was awarded as the 2024 McNair Mentor of the Year for her consistent support of students in our community!
Suliyat has previously shared the following about how being in the McNair community has impacted her:
"I learned how to make smart goals and not suffer in silence. I love how we talked about asking for help whenever we need it and not feel like a burden."
