Sociology is offering another new elective for Spring 2022 that counts as a Public Health elective and an elective in the Social Determinants of Health Certificate. Population and Society is an
introduction to the study of human populations in advanced and developing
countries; changes in the size, composition and distribution of populations;
the economic, political and social significance of populations and national
population policies. Recommended Preparation: SOCY 101 or ANTH 211 or GEOG 102.

MPH, MA is a social gerontologist by training and an associate professor of
sociology at UMBC. He is a faculty in the UMBC Gerontology Ph.D. program.
