Job Description
Spend the season in a dynamic hospital learning about Operations, Finance, Supply Chain,
Business Development, Data Analytics, Process Improvement, and more within a prestigious
health system! As an undergraduate intern, you will engage in executive-level projects, shadow
healthcare providers and administrators, connect with healthcare leaders, and explore the day-to-
day functions that keep our hospital doors open.
Program Summary
Guided by our mission, Johns Hopkins Medicine is committed to the education of health care
professionals across a wide range of disciplines. The HCMC – Johns Hopkins Medicine
Undergraduate Hospital Internship offers a hands-on, specialized healthcare experience to
undergraduate students. This semester long rotation-based program provides exposure to
multiple hospital departments.
Internship Offerings
• Rotation-based experience through multiple departments such as Finance, Operations,
Population Health, Human Resources, and more!
• Potential exposure to all areas of Howard County Medical Center

Howard County’s growing population and changing demographic, as well as our expanding

Intern Responsibilities
• Learn about organizational leadership with mentorship from reporting Vice
Presidents/Directors
• Attend project meetings and engage in one-on-one discussions with Vice
Presidents/Directors
• Participate in and potentially drive projects impacting key challenges and opportunities
for the organization aligned with strategic goals
• Collaborate with hospital-level leaders on system-level initiatives
• Gain functional knowledge in areas such as finance, operations, human resources,
planning, and analytics
• Have exposure to varied passions and career paths in healthcare and be encouraged to
tackle new challenges and step outside their comfort zone
• Join an internship cohort of motivated students, expanding your professional network in
the healthcare industry
Intern Expectations and Logistical Details
• Time Commitment:
o Interns are expected to commit a minimum of 16 hours per week (Fall/Spring) or
40 hours per week (Summer) of their internship
o Interns are expected to be on-site at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center
• Dress Code:
o Business professional/business casual attire during in-person hours.
• Attendance and Punctuality:
o Arrive on time for meetings and other scheduled activities
o Communicate promptly if you need to adjust your schedule
