Apply for a Handgun Qualification License
Here are the comments I hear every weekend
1. I'm not going to get licensed to exercise a right!
2. I'm not giving my fingerprints to MSP!
3. I'm not letting Owe'mally win, this is a bullshit law!
4. The law is going to be ruled unconstitutional anyways, why give up money and privacy if its just going to be repealed!
5. MSP can't keep up with the gun purchase applications, what makes you think they can handle these additional licenses!
6. I'm not buying any more hand guns in Maryland!
7. I'm moving to VA/PA/WV/Texas!
Here is my attempt to rebut these arguments and convince you in joining me on Oct. 1st (barring the age requirement or if you cannot genuinely afford the application / fingerprint fee)
1. Neither am I, we may never see these licenses... that would awesome. The best way to accomplish this is the flood the MSP with applications that they can't keep up with... we know they can't keep up with the purchase applications and the law requires them to produce the licenses in 30 days. Give the NRA, MSI, SAF, fuel to fight the legal battles.
2. If you were/are in the military, plan on getting a security clearance, or a concealed carry permit, or law enforcement, or potentially NFA toys... you'll give up your fingerprints. I gave mine to Utah for their CCP. If Maryland became a shall issue state tomorrow and you could all carry concealed, you would give up your fingerprints in a heartbeat, so what’s the issue here?
3. If you don't get licensed, and you don't buy any more hand guns, then Owe'mally does win. He successfully made the hurdles to hand gun ownership so high that you gave up.
4. See the last half of answer 1. Our legal groups need fuel to fight. When you are sitting at home on Nov. 1st at 12:01am and you don't have your HQL yet, you have helped.
5. That's right, that's the point. Make them break the law!
6. See #3, don't let MOM win.
7. OK well that is one way to deal with a problem, just run away from it. Most people don't have the luxury of picking up and moving, but even if you did, do you have no pride? You are abandoning the rest of us that have family, or commitments that keep us here. This state is in the minority nationally. Maryland is not a lost cause, we have some exciting battles to fight in the near future and our organization need your help.
