BSEL Modding
How a piece of tape changed everything
Friday, March 11, 2022 · 5 - 7 PM
Hi All,
Ever since the dawn of computing, enthusiasts have looked for different ways to get more performance out of their computer.
For this meeting, I will be giving a talk and a demonstration on BSEL modding. BSEL modding is a form of hardware hacking that tricks a computer's CPU into running at a higher speed than the CPU was rated for. Using only a piece of electrical tape, a computer that is obsolete at this point can be made to run 25% less slow.
This is a hybrid meeting. We will meet in person in
ILSB 230, and
it will be streamed on Jitsi starting at 5PM.
