PCIe Recap and Server Discussion
On a SAD, rainy day
Friday, May 6, 2022 · 5 - 7 PM
Hi all!
Since there was very low attendance at last week's meeting, we're going to re-run the PCIe topic, at least for the first part of today.
Today we will be learning about the Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) protocol. PCIe is, for the most part, present in every modern computer. Nearly every subsystem in your computer is connected via the PCIe bus either directly or indirectly, such as your GPU, network card, and hard drives. We will be going over a brief history of PCIe, how PCIe devices communicate with the rest of the system, and how the system configures the devices at startup.
For the second part, we'll be discussing the new club server, plans for it, what we're going to name it, how we're going to assemble it, etc. Should be fun!
This is a hybrid meeting. We will meet in person in ILSB 230, and it will be streamed on Jitsi starting at 5PM.
