"Have you ever wondered what it took to move a piece of technology from the whiteboard into practice? That process is called implementation, and is often the most difficult part of an IT or software development project. In this course we will cover the entire implementation workflow, from project scoping through post-deployment quality improvement. We will examine case studies from multiple domains including finance and healthcare, highlighting common problems faced during the implementation process and potential solutions. Students will focus on large, team-based projects implementing novel systems in challenging circumstances. This is an active learning course with many opportunities for in-class participation. The class will be run just like an industry software development group, giving students valuable experience in navigating deadlines, quality assurance, and team dynamics."
