Start $mart Workshop
Tuesday, November 13, 2012 · 5 - 8 PM
Did you hear about the new report from the American Association of University Women?
Many of us are aware that there's a persistent pay gap between women
and men, but this new report shows exactly how pervasive and dramatic
this disparity can be. Even just one year out of college, men were
already making an average of 18 percent more than women.
Solving the wage gap is a big problem that will
require a lot of activism and government intervention. But until then,
it's also important to look out for yourself and learn how to be your
own best advocate when you enter the work force.
To learn skills for negotiating the salary you deserve, come to the Start $mart Workshop,
sponsored by Women Involved in Learning and Leadership (WILL) and
supported by many other campus partners (including the Honors College!).
The workshop is put on by the AAUW's WAGE Project
and will teach practical, tangible skills for young women ready to enter
the workforce. The workshop take place Tuesday, November 13th, from 5-8 pm in ACIV-B 220. Space is limited, so if you are interested in attending, email drabinsk@umbc.edu to RSVP or with any questions.
