SDS supports the April 25 virtual Out of the Darkness Campus Walk. This is a journey of remembrance, hope, support, and a walk that unites a campus and community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones.
We are joining thousands of people walking across the country this spring in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. In light of COVID-19, this year's walk is virtual!
Instructions: Please take a picture of yourself in an AFSP shirt (if you have one) or a UMBC shirt either walking or holding up a positive message and share it on your (or your department's) social media page. Ideally, take the picture outside (in a safe manner). Please include the following or a similar message:
"Today #HopeWalksHere at @UMBC to support @afspmaryland's mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide! Let's create a culture, that is smart about mental health: www.afsp.org/umbc !"
Please register at afsp.org/umbc.
Walk donations are accepted until June 30th. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will use these Funds to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
