The Mera Kitchen Collective is a community-driven, food-based cooperative focused on empowerment of refugee and immigrant women. Members of the Baltimore-based collective will talk about their work with refugee and immigrant chefs. Aishah Alfadhalah will discuss the organization’s foundations and explore the importance of storytelling and foodways for new refugee and immigrant communities.
Bio:
Aisha Al Fadhalah is a co-founder of Mera Kitchen Collective which is a community-driven, food-based cooperative focused on empowerment of refugee and immigrant women by tapping into their passion for cooking and creating community Aisha serves as Community Outreach and Cultural Broker at Mera. She provides the vital link to refugee and immigrant community, ensuring that at every step of the way, Mera’s decisions reflect the actual needs of the community it serves.
