[PRIDE WEEK] Spectrum
With the Women's, Gender and Equity Center
UMBC's 3rd Annual Pride Week
This year's theme: Power in Queer Joy
Join the Spectrum discussion group in the Women’s, Gender, & Equity Center lounge for the fifth meeting of the semester. Anyone may attend regardless of whether they have attended prior meetings. The topic for this discussion group meeting is trans resistance---in other words, trans pride! Learn about movements of trans resistance, pride, and joy, locally and globally. This event is facilitated by Ash Acuña. The Spectrum Discussion Group makes space for UMBC community members who identify as trans, genderqueer, gender fluid, outside of the gender binary, and/or those who are questioning their gender identity and those who are allies, regardless of their sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. This discussion-based program follows the Women’s Center Brave Space model to provide a welcoming environment and thoughtful community to engage in conversations focused on the experiences of the transgender community. This group centers trans, non-binary, and gender-questioning experiences; we request that students do not use this space for class research or interviews. Please note: UMBC is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive environment for all students, staff, faculty, and visitors. If you have difficulties accessing any of the materials on our site or any of our events or discussions, please contact us so that we can provide an alternative format and/or remedy any accessibility challenges.
For any questions, contact Darcie Adams at dadams4@umbc.edu (Graduate Assistant for the Gathering Space) or Angelina Jenkins at arjenkin@umbc.edu (Assistant Director for the Mosaic).
This event is open for full participation by all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or any other protected category under applicable federal law, state law, and the University's nondiscrimination policy.
