Id like to share an opportunity with the womxn in the STEM LLC, and any other students that may be interested. I work with the Folded Crane Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on empowering young womxn (in high school and college) to join fields that are male dominated.
We are looking for women in your club to join us for our upcoming event, Breaking Down Barriers: The Workshop Circuit, either as attendees or as university student speakers who would like to talk about their experiences as women in chemistry, engineering, computer science, architecture, business, and politics. This virtual event is a series of workshops where high school and college students can interact with female professionals and university students who have risen above the gender barriers young womxn face today. Here is the schedule of workshop events:
- Chemistry: February 20
- Computer Science: February 27
- Business: March 6
- Architecture: March 13
- Politics: March 20
- Engineering: March 27
The speaking opportunity is a 30-minute time commitment and requires little preparation; university student speakers will have a conversation about their experiences with high schoolers in small breakout groups.Would you be able to send out our flyer to your members? We'd like your help in reaching any students interested in joining this event. Please check out our website and the attached flyer: I've uploaded it in poster form and as a pdf with bios of our professional speakers. I'm happy to answer any questions. We look forward to working with you!
