DRIF Training
Designated Research Initiative Funds (DRIF) are currently allocated from the Office of Research and Creative Achievement (ORCA) twice a year in the year following the generated Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Costs. Starting in FY25, this allocation will now be made quarterly and will be allocated in real-time to distribute the percentage of F&A generated within a given quarter. As a result of this change, there will be a one-time distribution to units for DRIF generated from FY24 F&A.
This training aims to provide participants with key updates on the changes surrounding DRIF allocation. Within the training, we will also cover tips and tricks for how units can track current F&A to project and calculate future incoming DRIF. As a result, there are points where this training is more technical in nature.
Upon completing this training, participants will gain proficiency in the following key areas:
1. Understanding the purpose of DRIF funds and how they are calculated.
2. Using Financial Administrative Dashboards in Tableau to generate reports that will help you track current F&A.
3. Using current F&A data and other common trends to project future DRIF.
We hope that you will join us for this training to be more informed on the upcoming DRIF changes and take this opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
