What Are Office Politics, and Why Do They Matter at Work?
How we handle office politics can certainly impact team relationships, shape culture, and influence the overall sense of trust that exists within the team.
Politics in the workplace is often seen as something negative (think, for example, of someone spreading gossip and damaging someone’s reputation). However, office politics can also be a force for good if managed properly.
If politics in the workplace is managed well, not only can its negative effects be contained, but its positive effect can be harnessed to improve staff well-being and productivity.
Office politics training helps managers reduce conflict, improve communication, and create a more collaborative and trustworthy work environment by increasing awareness of organizational behavior. It can also help create a better workplace in terms of psychological safety.
The aim of this session is to help participants reduce the impact of negative office politics on the team and turn situations such as politics in the workplace into a positive tool instead, to improve teamwork and engagement.
At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
✔ Identify what office politics is and what it involves.
✔ Analyze how office politics can affect the workplace.
✔ Develop strategies to resolve and prevent problems caused by workplace politics.
