How to Say Anything To Anyone Book Discussion
Join us for an engaging four-part book discussion on
cultivating a culture of
candor in the work place, featuring How to Say Anything to Anyone: A Guide
to Building Business Relationships That Really Work, by Shari Harley.
This book starts off with a premise: that how people work with you depends on
the relationships that you have cultivated. By looking at these relationships
and our communication habits at a micro level, together, we'll be able to create
new habits that help us enhance our working relationships, our career prospects
and build a healthy workplace, one where direct communication becomes
commonplace and welcome.
This discussion will be facilitated by Associate Vice President of Financial Services, Ben Lowenthal, and Manager of Workplace Learning & Wellness, Jill Wardell. The program will offer a blend of book discussion with small- and large-group conversations focused on supporting each participant’s professional communication goals. Prior to the first session, each participant will receive a copy of the book, courtesy of the Offices of Financial Services and Human Resources along with a reading schedule. Discussion of the first selected portion will begin in session one.
Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all four consecutive weekly sessions (4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11) to maximize growth and application of the learning back on the job. Sessions are planned as brown-bag lunches, and participants are welcome to bring their lunches.
Space is limited and registration is required. Registration deadline is Friday, April 6th.
If you register for a workshop and your attendance plans change, please email us at hrtraining@umbc.edu. Please arrive early so we can begin promptly at 11:00 a.m.
