Concur Orientation (Virtual)
This training provides a high-level overview of UMBC's new travel system, SAP Concur, which replaces the university's previous manual travel processes. The session introduces participants to the full travel workflow—from pre-approval through reimbursement—while highlighting how Concur enhances efficiency, improves transparency, and strengthens compliance with UMBC's travel policies. Participants will also learn how the system supports travelers, arrangers, and approvers.
Key Topics Covered:
System Overview: Participants will gain an understanding of how Concur centralizes the travel process—from planning and booking to expense reimbursement—into a single, secure system that ensures accountability and data accuracy.
Travel Workflow: Provides a high-level walkthrough of the complete travel lifecycle within Concur.
Approval Workflow: Outlines the routing and approval process for travel requests and expense reports.
Post-Processing Workflow: Explains what occurs after an expense report is submitted and approved, including audit review, verification of supporting documentation, and payment through Accounts Payable.
Mobile and App Access: Demonstrates how to access and manage travel information on the go using the Concur Mobile App and related tools such as TripIt.
Policy Integration: Discusses how the implementation of SAP Concur directly influenced the development of UMBC's Interim Travel Policy.
Resources and Support: Reviews the available resources for continued learning and assistance, including online job aids, process guides, training videos, and direct support contacts.
This training does NOT go deep into the steps of the system or travel process - that's what the other trainings are for - but instead serves as a very high level overview and walkthrough of the components of the system. There will be a brief demo and time for questions.
