As we move into Pride Month, the UMBC Counseling Center and University Health Services recognize the recent and continuous anti-trans sentiments and actions across the United States and the world. We also recognize the violence toward and murders of trans people and acknowledge the high rates of these instances committed toward trans women of color. Mental health concerns, including thoughts of suicide, may arise because of experiences of oppression.
We want to actively support our trans community and invite students to contact the Counseling Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at 410-455-2472. If you have mental health concerns outside of regular business hours and wish to speak with someone from our After-Hours Support Line, please call 410-455-3230 or feel free to use Togetherall, our online peer support platform. As such events can have a significant impact on our ability to feel safe and at peace, please utilize the self-care techniques and strategies that can be found on our Instagram and Facebook platforms at @umbccounseling.
