October is Disability Awareness Month, and the UMBC Style Guide's living document on Inclusive and Affirming Language has been updated to include Writing About Disabilities.
As we work toward creating a culture of inclusive communications, we invite you to explore the brief context in the guide as well as dive into the external links for more resources: EDUCAUSE Inclusive Language Guide, the National Network for Information, Guidance, and Training on the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the National Center on Disability and Journalism.
We are very grateful for the participation of many campus organizations—Accessibility & Disability Services, OEI, the Disability Advocate Union, and many more individual voices in the creation of this document.
