Ergathon Fall 2019
Support UMBC Crew at Our Biggest Fundraiser of the Semester!
What is Ergathon?
Ergathon is a semesterly tradition. UMBC Crew team members participate in a 12 hour long event where the ergs are moved from the RAC to the Breezeway. From 10 AM to 10PM on October 18th, rowers will take shifts to make sure the ergs don't stop moving over those 12 hours.
Why does Ergathon exist and how does it work?
Ergathon is our biggest fundraiser of the semester. Each rower gets sponsored by a friend, parent, other family member, etc and is able to generate funds for the club based on time or distance rowed. In addition to rowers generating money, we'll be selling hot chocolate and apple cider to people passing through the Breezeway throughout the duration of Ergathon. This year, we're also utilizing Gritstarter and will be accepting donations that way.
Our goal this year is to raise $800 dollars which would go towards buying new shoes for our boats. That means that we can finally stop using duct tape to hold them together.
What should I do on October 18th between the hours of 10 AM and 10 PM?
