Retriever Essentials Farmer's Market at the Sukkah
Enjoy fresh produce and celebrate the Jewish Holiday Sukkot
Thursday, October 17, 2024 · 1:30 - 3 PM
Join UMBC Hillel for a special edition of the Retriever Essentials Free Farmer's Market on Thursday, October 17 from 1:30-3:00 PM to celebrate Sukkot.
What is Sukkot? It's a 7-day Jewish festival celebrating the harvest, as well as marking the period when the Israelites wandered in the desert without a permanent home. For the week of the holiday, Jewish communities enjoy meals inside of a sukkah, which is a temporary booth we make and decorate. It is traditional to welcome ushpizin, or guests to our celebrations, and we are so excited to host Retriever Essentials for this special collaboration.
Retriever Essentials and UMBC Hillel will be distributing free local produce outside our sukkah, and when you enter, you'll have an opportunity to learn about some of the rituals involved in the holiday and contribute to a community art project.
