Montclair State University and the National Science Foundation sponsor an
8-week Summer Research Experience for Undergraduate program (REU) at the NJ School of Conservation. The objective is to cultivate highly motivated
undergraduate students in transdiciplinary environmental research. Ten
undergraduate students will be selected to participate in this hands-on,
field-oriented research program centered on forest lakes in Northwest New
Jersey. Participants will be housed in cabins located within 30,000 acres
of mature forest, mountain ridges and freshwater streams and lakes. Working
with faculty mentors, participants will gain scientific research experience
by focusing on and rotating among research areas including Hydrology,
Erosion and Sedimentation, Environmental Chemistry, and
Biodiversity/Ecology.
