Mr. D. Fick (Undergraduate Research and Upmarket Scholarships) provided us with a fine example of how not to win the URCAD Selfie Contest on April 12, 2023.
"Mr. Fick took a selfie of not himself but of a goose. Or a duck. Or whatever those things are that hang around the pond," said a well-known selfie critic who refused to be identified.
"I was very surprised by the selfie," noted Fick, a longtime UMBC employee and expert file cabinet attendant, who submitted his selfie by electronic mail late last night. "For a split-second, I thought that maybe I had turned into a goose. Or a duck. Or whatever. But I quickly came to my senses and realized that I didn't adjust my camera properly."
"I did look in the mirror though," Fick added after a long silence.
Nevertheless, this is a salient example of how not to take a selfie.
Mr. Fick still has time, however, to submit a second attempt and he could still win one of several fabulous prizes. Here's how:
